Welcome
to the articles section.
The benefit of reading books and articles on art can never be
overemphasized.
Reading about art has gone a long way to making me who I am today as an
artist.
I am in no way perfect and I continue to strive to be a better painter.
When
my journey into the world of art (and painting in particular)
started in 1993; I knew very little about painting. I did not know what
some
terms used by artists and in the art world meant. I did not even know
what a
canvas was. Let alone know what priming was or what it was meant to
stand for.
And always being in the company of medical people and having no contact
whatsoever with artists did not help matters at all.
Despite all these handicaps and more, I went after what I loved
most...........painting. I saw my handicaps as a challenge and as a
stumbling
block that I was determined to surmount by all means. I took to reading
whatever I could lay my hands on that had something to say about art.
Of course
this was not very often as I was always surrounded by medical books. I
also
resorted to asking loads and loads of questions whenever I had the
opportunity.
I appreciate the need to encourage anyone who aspires to paint or
someone who
has started painting but feels alone. I know how it feels to be
overwhelmed
with art terminologies and technical terms that only end up making you
feel
worse off than you were before you picked up the book.
In the light of all this I have written some articles
that I feel are
pertinent to painting and life as an artist in general. I
hope you would
make out time to sit with a cup of coffee or chocolate and go through
each one
carefully.
Feel free to share these articles or to use them on your site. All I
ask in
return is that I be credited for the work and a link sent back to this
site.
Happy
Reading.
