Oil on canvas

Commission

This was my first attempt at a life size portrait. Though it was painstaking; I derived a lot of joy from it. I used the only surviving picture (taken in the 30's) of the man which had been partly destroyed  by water. The best part of producing the portrait was bringing the man back to life. He was my colleague's grand-father and he looked a lot like his grand-son. Thus since part of his face in the picture was gone, I resorted to studying my colleague's features. That's the secret as to how I was able to get this done. I was (and I'm still) amazed at how it finally turned out.
