Painting
in Progress
Welcome
to the painting in progress section. I love
the look and feel of a finished work of art especially a beautiful
painting.
Oft times when I look at a finished painting what I always try to
unravel is
how the artist painted it.
As
a self taught artist and one who is learning
along the way; I derive a lot of joy and inspiration whenever I am
opportune to
study the process involved in making a painting. I love studying
artists’
techniques, approach to a work and an artist’s choice of
colours.
All
this is so not because I have the intention of
copying the artist (that would be blatantly deceiving myself!). Rather,
I study
artists’ styles because I want to bolster and discover my own
style. All the
great artists of our time for example Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo
or
Picasso had their own unique styles. They each developed a style for
and with
which they were known for (Signature style). Thus in essence, every
good artist
should strive to have a unique style.
In this section, I would
be
giving a step by step demonstration
on how I produced some of the paintings on this site. You may or may
not be
familiar with the techniques I use when painting. Either way I invite
you to
take a peek into my world as I develop paintings from the very first
pencil
sketch to the last brush stroke.
While
you are here, I implore you to try as much as
you can to leave with something. The goal of having this section is not
to
advertise my painting prowess but to give you (amateur artist and
professional artist
alike) a few ideas. The anticipated result is that you would get the
courage to
break away from the norm and develop your own style........your own
signature.
Most importantly, I hope you would leave inspired.
This
section would be updated regularly so be sure
to come back for more inspiration.
